A little bit about me.

My name is Mrs. Gilley. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I am currently at Auburn University pursuing my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. Before coming to Auburn I went to Enterprise State Community College, where I spent my first two years of college. I have learned many important factors that you need to know as far as being a educator from Auburn. One thing is that communication and professionalism are something that you need to know and understand as a teacher. It is never a simple job being a teacher, but these two things make it a little more manageable for both the teacher and the students. Also I have learned that sometimes as a teacher you may fail and that is okay but what makes you even better is being able to overcome that failure and get up and be better than you were going into it.
I have had experiences in the school through both pre-teaching and service learning. Both of those experiences taught me of the importance of building the student-peer relationships that make the classroom more successful. I believe as future teachers we can learn so much from out students and sometimes we just do not give them enough credit for all they are capable of. Just seeing the students continue to learn is one of the reasons I continue to teach.
Teaching is not a career I take lightly because I do understand the difficulties that come with it. However being able to make a difference in a child's life is something that will always keep me going each and everyday. Just like my 8th Grade teacher Mrs. Gilder said, "If you love your job then you will never work a day in your life." I want to be the teacher that student's will remember for years to come that made school fun.
